An investment opportunity in the Baltic renewable energy sector: a 3 MW solar power plant combined with a 5 MWh battery storage system on a 4.2 ha plot. Several industrial electricity consumers, including manufacturing plants and logistics warehouses, are located nearby.
“STROIPERLIT-RIGA” Ltd (SIA) is developing a 3 MW solar park on a 4.2 ha plot next to the Knauf factory in Salaspils parish. The project combines solar generation with battery storage, delivering a stable and predictable energy source.
The solar + BESS combination generates income not only from produced energy, but also from energy trading and grid-balancing services.
Sale of electricity produced by the solar panels to the grid or, by agreement, to a direct consumer — a base revenue source.
Storing energy during low-price hours and selling it during high-price hours, capturing market price spreads.
Possible participation in balancing services, subject to market prequalification.
A 3 MWp solar plant with a 2.5 MW connection to the AS “Sadales tīkls” grid, and a 2.5 MW / 5 MWh battery system in design, to be connected at the same grid connection point. Total export capacity 2.5 MW. The financial model is being updated to reflect the refined grid connection terms; detailed calculations are available to interested investors on request.
Figures are indicative. Detailed calculations and sensitivities are available to interested investors on request.
Request financial informationThe park spans two land plots — “Ļipiņas” and “Ļipiņas 1” — in Salaspils parish, an industrially developed area.
Simplified site plan. The solar and BESS installations use part of the site; the remaining ~2 ha allow further development in directions that need cheap electricity — a data centre or hydrogen production.
The solar and BESS installations do not use the whole 4.2 ha site — about 2 ha remain free. They can host industrial development projects that need cheap, locally generated electricity, for example:
SES technical design approved, SES building permit obtained
SES connection to AS “Sadales tīkls” built and commissioned
The BESS and its connection at the existing SES grid connection point are being designed; the SES technical design is being amended to add the BESS part
Open to several deal structures: equity investment, a loan to implement the project, or sale of the project as is
Building the park and commissioning; SES and BESS construction may take place simultaneously
BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) is a battery system that stores electricity and returns it to the grid when needed. In the Ļipiņas project it is 5 MWh capacity with 2.5 MW power.
SES (solar energy system) is a solar panel power plant that generates electricity from sunlight. In the Ļipiņas project it is 3 MW.
Solar panels generate electricity that can be sold to the grid or stored in batteries. The BESS stores energy during low-price hours and releases it during high-price hours, and may also provide grid-balancing services.
The combination can generate income from three streams — energy sales, price arbitrage and grid balancing — diversifying revenue and reducing dependence on a single source.
